LOOKING AT THE WORLD THROUGH ROSE COLORED GLASSES.

OK, hard to do that now a days but maybe put on your blue blockers or get in an infared sauna or how about taking a hike amongst green trees…

Chromotherapy. Chromo means color and without us even realizing it, we experience colors every day that shape our mood, make us inspired, create impulsivity or even spark our hunger.

Artists are aware of the power of color. Big brands know how to use colors to direct their consumers but did you ever stop and think how nature and colored lights can become contributors to your health?

A chronic pain management clinic in Tucson, OK did a study on using green light therapy for migraine sufferers. Led by a pharmacologist who wanted to find ways to help out his brother who suffered from migraines. When his sibling felt a migraine coming on, he would sit in his (green) garden. This inspired a study that took migraine patients and exposed them first to white light for 2.5 hours as a control then to green light for 2.5 hours. The results were profound as their pain dropped to an average of 2.8 / 10 and the frequency of their headaches dropped from 19 to 6.5 per month. Quality of life improved.

Did you ever wonder why being outside in the sunshine brightens your mood? It’s the short wave blue light that is abundant during the day time that stimulates the brain and wards off fatigue according to a researcher at Thomas Jefferson University. Short wave blue light has also been found to improve performance and alertness. So instead of reaching for the post lunch coffee, go for a brisk walk in the sunshine!

Red light therapy is found in the uses of photobiomodulation for reducing lines and wrinkles, cold laser for reducing pain, far infrared saunas for muscle relaxation, improvement of circulation and pain reduction. Far infrared is now being found in clothing, bedding, blankets and more. Recent research is even pointing to the benefits of far infrared on our gut microbiome!
